Frozen Surreality & the West Bank

© Martin Kollar

This Place, a new photo series at the Brooklyn Museum, running now until June 5th, 2016, compiles the work of twelve distinguished photographers who were invited to explore the West Bank through their cameras – presenting an intimate portrait of the lives of those who inhabit this complex part of the world. The exhibition includes the work of Slovak photographer and cinematographer Martin Kollar, whose picturesque style presents a frozen surreality to the life of the West Bank. In lieu of the recent talk between Kollar and Thomas Struth at NeueHouse Madison Square, where they discussed their experiences with the project, Kollar shared with us a selection of images he took for the show.
